Management Operating Systems

We install the operating system that runs your business week to week.

MAGOS Consulting is a business consulting firm. We install the daily and weekly routines, meetings, owners and measures that run the work across operations, maintenance, inventory and cash, and your savings are tracked on the ledger and validated by your finance team.

The system

A Management Operating System is how the work gets run, not a report about it.

It is the set of routines, meetings, owners and measures that run your business day to day and week to week. Six practices go in together, and the people you already employ run them.

    Installing the operating system

On the ledger

When the routines run every shift, the result shows up on the ledger.

When the system is installed, every shift knows the plan, every number has a name beside it, and every gap has an action with a due date. Savings are tracked weekly against a baseline, line by line of expense, and validated by your own finance people.

We report what finance signs, not what we modeled.

On site

The people who sold you the program are in your plant on Monday morning.

No bench of juniors behind a partner who visits. We do not hand over a binder. We write the system with your managers, run it beside them, coach them through it, and leave when they can run it unaided.

Roles get written as behaviors rather than paragraphs, every manager gets a personal coach, and each workshop carries an assignment to be done on the floor that week. We do not count an element as installed until your managers run it without us in the room.

Build the System, from the people. Coach the people. Count the profit.

How the three of us work

The current program

Thirteen forming cells, three shifts, and all three principals on the engagement.

A heavy gauge thermoforming manufacturer, about $51M revenue, 13 forming cells. Nobody could say where the week’s work stood. Dispatch was worked by hand, handoffs between shifts were verbal only, and the preventive schedule lived in one technician’s calendar.

The operating rhythm went in first, then the tools the team runs itself, from a scheduling and adherence tool fed by the daily dispatch to a finance hub carrying a 12 week cash flow forecast.

The range of our work

The system is the same. The business it runs does not have to be.

Our principals’ work runs from small job shops through divisions of large corporates. All eight case studies on this site are repeat run process businesses. If you run one off or job shop work, ask us and we will tell you plainly what we have done in that shape and what we have not.

Client names are withheld. Each company appears by its industry, its size and the shape of the engagement, and every figure carries a label saying how it was confirmed.

You do not have to be ready to buy anything. Ask the question you would ask a peer who had already done this, and one of the three of us will answer it.
